“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”
Yep, Confucius was absolutely right when he pronounced those words and it’s with that quote in mind that I started this exciting adventure!
SOME BASIC INFO ABOUT ME
My name is Milla, I was born in Italy (in Verbania to be precise) 30-something years ago but left the country in 2012 when the wanderlust “sickness” infected me, and I felt the urge to start exploring the world.
I grew up in a kind of normal family from a couple of mature and open-minded parents who taught from the very beginning to stand for myself and be proud of who I am. As a child I was kind of a tomboy obsessed with sport and with a profound hate for cosmetics and skirts. At one point, without me even realizing I became crazy about dresses and high heels.
WHAT I STUDIED
I have one Degree from the IULM University of Milan in Public Relations and Advertising and a Master Degree from the University of Milan in Marketing, Public and Corporate Communication. Oh, and because I loooove studying, a few years ago I took another degree in Tourism Management.
MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN PR AND MARKETING
Before being done with my studies, I started working in the marketing and event management field in some pretty exciting companies in Milan. After graduating, I joined a small PR agency where I soon became one of the accounts in charge of – well, pretty much everything my clients needed.
Need some examples? Here we go: organise press conferences, write press releases, engage with journalists, deal with the corporate social media presence, write business plans/leaflets/brochures/websites contents/newsletters and so on. It sounds pretty stressful and it was, that’s way at one point I started to ask myself if that was the life I wanted to life, if I was truly happy. The answer was NO.
THEN I STARTED TRAVELING
Because of all this wandering around the world I gained experience in many other fields – I worked as retail manager assistant in a shop, as event coordinator in a 5-star hotel, as a sous-chef in a yoga centre (I swear I’m not making this up), as centre manager in two summer language schools, as receptionist for an architect studio, etc.
..UNTIL I BECAME THE YOGI WITH WANDERLUST
And then one day I had the enlightenment, I wanted to be passionate about my job, and I needed it to follow me around the world. So that’s how one year ago I officially became a freelance/blogger specialized in what I love the most: yoga, healthy vegan/vegetarian food and travel.
SOME OTHER RANDOM INFO ABOUT ME
I play volleyball and beach volley since I was 11 years old, penguins are my favorite animals and I could never live without eating pizza at least once a week.
I don’t miss Italy but I do miss my family, especially my dad, my two lovely nieces and a 40kg Golden Retriever named Scott.
I still love dresses and high heels but my wardrobe is full of yoga leggings and flip flops and I end up wearing smart clothes just once a month or so.
